How unlocking works: the ladder in order

Dragon Queen's Dark DesireUnder the ChiefTrapped Desires: Island Swap

Unlocking on the series noted here follows a plain order: the free episodes come first, then the paid ones, each priced in tokens. Our description stops wherever our notes do.

The order of the rungs

Think of a series as a short ladder. Rungs 1 and 2 are free on all eight series we noted. From rung 3 upward, each episode has a token price, listed at 12. The top rung is episode 5, 6 or 7, and when you reach it you have paid for every episode above the free pair. That is all the ladder is, and we like it for being so easy to audit.

The ladder written out

  • Five episodes: two free, then three at 12 tokens, ending on a total of 36. Under the Chief is one of the six shows built this way.
  • Six episodes: two free, then four at 12 tokens, ending on a total of 48.
  • Seven episodes: two free, then five at 12 tokens, ending on a total of 60.

The per episode price is flat in our notes, so no rung costs more than the one below it. A running promotion can pull the list price down for a while; let the number on screen overrule the one on this page.

What this means when you plan

Since each paid step is priced separately in our notes, your spending can be thought of one rung at a time. You can plan to a point, stop there, and know the amount: 12 tokens for the first paid episode, 24 for two, 36 for three, and on upward where a series is longer. For the unit itself, read what a token is for. For the decision of whether to climb at all, the page on whether to finish is the more useful stop.

What our notes do not cover

Plenty of practical questions sit outside a ledger like ours. We have no record of how an unlock looks on screen, whether episodes can be taken out of sequence, or how long an unlocked episode stays available. Rather than fill those gaps with reasonable sounding guesses, we leave them open. If one of them affects your decision, look at the terms and screens on Candy.ai itself, since those will be accurate on the day you read them.

Short answers

Which episodes unlock first?

The two free ones come first, and the paid episodes follow, priced in tokens.

Do later episodes cost more?

Not in our notes: each paid episode lists at 12 tokens, subject to whatever promotion is running.

Can I skip ahead to a later episode?

Our notes do not say. Check on Candy.ai rather than relying on us for that.
